Start good from stall gate. Won ridden out; second and third driving. SMARTY-ARTY raced with the pace and under steadying restraint to the stretch, then drew clear while being mildly urged. MR. EDD reached contention after a half mile, but was no match for the winner. MT. ALTO, on the inside throughout, was badly blocked nearing the hailf-mile pole, moved into the same switch for the second time and failed to threaten thereafter. ST. GEORGE rallied only mildly. STARRY CANT alternated in setting and pressing the pace into the stretch and faltered. WHIRLING DUST failed to reach contention. HIS HOUR and ALAPAY quit to a walk. HIYA POP, always formidable, drove to *he lead entering the stretch, but could not hold sway. HARPIST raced with the pace throughout and continued on well. LOCK CONTROL loomed a threat on the final turn, but lacked a closing rally. SKELETON trailed for more than a half and closed ground. BLUNDERBUSS faltered through the stretch. DARE ALL moved through along the inside to wrest command early, drew clear under pressure on the turn and held sway under continued urging. FIRE FOX continued to make up ground on the top one while holding BON LYNN safe. The latter, apparently best, was knocked back sharply in the opening furlong and closed considerable ground when again settled into stride. BEST RULE made up ground steadily. POLLY TEN TENS could not keep up. BELLISAN was never a factor. SIGN EGRET raced forwardly placed and quit. STAR DATE flattened out badly after holding the runner-up position. REGALON raced along the inside to duel for the lead, then weakened. TRIFLIN NEIBOR caught tired horses. PHANTOM JINKS was taken up sharply just after the start. DOON WELL showed brief speed. BELMONT BELLE showed good speed and weakened. HARBOR QUEEN raced evenly and without apparent mishap. HIDDEN MOTIVE broke tardily and was unable to reach contention. DARK CHARM could not keep up. OOM PAUL circled the leaders to wrest command on the turn, then withstood the late challenge of MERE BONES. The latter, shuffled back soon after Jhe start, was forced to take the overland route and. after looming a threat, was unable to wear down the winner. MY NELL raced forwardly and continued on gamely. EASTERN FLYWAY weakened slightly after dueling for the lead. RARE MINERAL showed speed in spots. REMEMBRANCE raced forwardly and faltered. Scratched— 27339 Blue Fedora, 109. THISTLE JAY set the pace under rating and just failed to last while keeping an irregular course through the stretch and bothering several horses. DIGIT, unhurried early, moved to the leaders nearing the stretch and just missed after his riders feet came out of the stirrups during the drive. BLACK CANASTA moved through along the inside, but was bothered when THISTLE JAY swerved. BIG CREEK loomed a threat between horses until impeded through the stretch.
