April 30 UP .— , Twelve former college basketball stars and accused "fixer" Salvatore Sollazzo were in- dicated on a staggering list of bribery charges today. Eleven of the 12 pleaded not guilty, while i arraignment for the 12th was postponed until Thursday. Sollazzo also pleaded not guilty today. Eddie Gard, former Long Island Univer- sity star who allegedly turned "fixer" him- self after he left school, was indicted on 30 counts of conspiracy to commit bribery and four other counts of taking bribes — a total of 34 counts. Sollazzo was indicted on 30 counts of conspiracy. In addition, the New York County Grand Jury indicted Al Roth, Ed Warner, Ed Roman and Floyd Layne, of City College of New York; Leroy Smith, Adolph Bigos, Sherman White, Nathan Miller, Dick Feurtado and Loup Lipman of Long Island University; and Connie Schaff of New York University. All pleaded not guilty today except Gard, whose arraignment was postponed. Roth, Warner, Smith and Feurtado each were indicted on five counts, Roman and Layne were indicted on four counts each, Bigos on eight counts, White on seven counts, Schaff on three counts, and Lip-i man and Miller each on two counts. In all cases, there was one count of con- spiracy and the remaining counts were for taking bribes. The players and Sollazzo face jail terms of three years and fines up to 0,000 on the bribe-taking counts, and jail terms of one to three years on the conspiracy counts. The indictments today replace lesser ones handed up by the grand jury earlier. All of the men except Gard and Sallazzo were let out on their old bail. Gard was paroled and Sollazzo returnd to his cell after he again was denied bail. The players are part of a group of 18 rounded up since January 1 in the district 1 attorneys war on the New York basket-J ball bribery ring. Three former CCNY players — Norman Mager, Herb Cohen and Irvin Dambrot — still await grand jury j action.
