Prince of Fairies Captures Brisbane Cup at Two Miles BRISBANE, Australia, April 30 Reuters. — Bank Stream, the Sydney Cup whined and todays favorite, was forced to be content with second place behind Prince of Fairies in 5,200 Brisbane Cup, Australias second richest race, run over two miles here. Ridden by G. Bouggoure and owned by the Melbourne punter, Ossie Porter, the victor put on a brilliant closing spurt to win by three-quarters of the a length. F. L. Batchelors Bank Stream, who looked the winner 50 yards from home, finished a short head in front of J. F. Schmidts Naispear, who was third among the field of 12 starters. Prince of Fairies, a son of Saint Magnus out of imported Fairy Princess, carried 119 pounds and was timed in 3: 232 for the gruelling route. He now has won 10 races out of 32 starts. The stake was run over a fast track in fine weather before a crowd of 25,000.
