BROWN held a slight lead nearing the furlong marker, tired during the late stages and was unable to withstand the top one. FUTURESQUE steadily improved his position along the rail to reach the lead entering the stretch, came out slightly interferring with CASTILE midway the drive, then continued on gamely when straightened. A claim of foul against the winner by the rider of CASTILE was not allowed. CASTILE raced in nearest pursuit of the early leader while on the outside, was bumped lightly by FUTURESQUE inside the final furlono, then held on tenaciously. JIM BOY-H lacked a menacing rally. THUNDERJET was unable to keep up. OPENING DAY was caught in close quarters on the fart turn and failed to recover. BARBAZURE was always outrun. EASY BUY retired steadily from a rapid beginning. MESCARA, forwardly placed from the start, came out for the drive and, under good handling, was up in the final stride to outgame READE CASTLE. The latter raced ORK into defeat to assume a clear lead inside the stretch, tired slightly during the late stages and just missed. ORK faltered when shaken up for the ultimate test DOUBLE WHORL raced wide. CORPORAL SONNY hesitated at the start, raced on the outside to the stretch, then finished with good courage. AMANECER, racing in greatly improved form, came to the complete outside for the stretch run and was along in the concluding strides to draw clear of MISS NAP. The latter held sway inside the stretch, then faltered. DIXIE PEBBLE was unable to improve his position when hard ridden through the late stages. WAXON tired under punishment.
