Fred Darling Great Britains Brilliant Trainer Dies at 69 69BECKHAMPTON BECKHAMPTON Wiltshire Eng June 10 Reuters Fred Darling a bloodstock breeder and the greatest British trainer of all time died at his home here today after suffering a hemorrhage He was 69 years of age Among the horses Darling bred was Pinza who four days ago gave Gordon Richards his first winning ride in the Ep ¬ som Derby DerbyDarling Darling known in the racing world as the Beckhampton wizard was for 34 years the master of the Beckhampton Stable which by his successes in classic races became the most famous in the world From his headquarters on the Wiltshire downs he sent out seven Derby winners four winners of the Two Thousand Guineas twice won the One Thousand Guineas arid Oaks and three times he furnished the win ¬ ner of the St Leger He recently returned from Kenya where he went in 1947 for his health His brother Sam Darling formerly the famous Newmarket trainer said today he had been ill for some time timeSam Sam Darling said he was unable to get over from his home tossee his brother be ¬ fore he died Fred sat up in his chair had a sudden hemorrhage and died he said
