Jones Patience Rewarded CHURCHILL DOWNS, Louisville, Ky., May 6.— Ben Jones, leading trainer in point of Kentucky Derby winners with six to his credit, perhaps had his most difficult time with the 1941 victor, Calumet Farms Whirlaway, who ran the mile and a quarter in a record 2:01%. Given to sudden displays of temper and unruliness, which made it difficult for his rider to keep him in, the son of Blenheim H. — Dustwhirl required many hours of Jones time before the Derby. Jones patience was rewarded when Eddie Arcaro brought Whirly across the wire eight lengths on top.
