Johnstown Was Youngest CHURCHILL DOWNS, Louisville, Ky., May 6. — Youngest horse in a quarter century LJ to win the historic Kentucky Derby at Churchill Downs here has been Johnstown. When that Belair colt won the event on May 6, 1939, he was 16 days short of his actual third birthday. Johnstown had been foaled May 22, 1936, at Claiborne Stud. War Admiral is the only other May foal to win the great race since 1929. This colt was born May 2, 1934, won the Derby on May 8, 1937. There are 25 May foals eligible for the eighty-first Derby, which will-be run May 7.
