A MAIDEN DERBY FAVORITE Although but two maidens had won the Derby, in 1934, Sir Thomas, a maiden, was installed choice in the winter books at 6 to 1 and held that position until the first of May when the filly Mata Hari supplanted him. Neither earned a place though the filly captured fourth money. Sir Thomas made, a poor showing and finished next to last. :
