OMAHA MEETING AT HAND Beautiful AkSarBen Field to toThrow Throw Open Its Gates for forSpring Spring Racing June 3 OMAHA Neb May 27 Only a week remains until the gates at beautiful AkSar Ben field will be thrown open Thursday June S for the best race meeting ever held in the Middle West Never before since racing was established at Omaha have con ¬ ditions been brighter for a more successful meeting Earlier in the season and in previous years much persuasion had to be used to secure a sufficient number of horses to give the kind of a meeting pleasing to Omaha followers of the sport This year every stall has been engaged on the inside of the Ak SarBen field one hundred additional stalls have been erected to take care of reserva ¬ tions and many horses have been stabled outside a distance of two miles or more and several tents will have to be placed in order to accommodate the horses According to present indications there will be at least 700 horses participating in the races racesGeneral General manager Chas K Trimble an ¬ nounces that the preliminary work has been completed in connection with the forthcom ¬ ing meeting and everything is in thorough readiness for the opening openingThe The purses for the meeting will aggregate i iri000 ri000 and there will be no purse less than COO and the handicap events will be from 1000 to 2500 With such stables at Col R L Baker R F Carmen C B Irwin P A Jones B Creech J A Hall W Jj Potter Swastika Stable G F Jenkins B F McClain the competition is sure to be keen in the handicap races racesTaken Taken all in all the book for the first nine days 6f racing which has been distributed among the horsemen here would indicate that close and exciting finishes should be produced in the majority of events
