NOW FOR PREAKNESS STAKES Maryland Jockey Club Arranging to Take Care of Tremendous Crowd Next Saturday. BALTIMORE, Md., May 10.— According to secretary-general manager Matthais L. Daiger, the Maryland Jockey Club is making great preparations for the 0,000 Preak-ness, to be run next Saturday. Prior to the race, vice-president Charles Curtis, Governor Albert C. Ritchie, Mayor Howard W. Jackson, president of Baltimore City Council; E. Lester Muller, Admiral Cary T. Grayson, of Washington; Frederick Huber, Charles E. McLane, Francis Riggs and numerous foreign diplomats and senators from Washington will be entertained at a luncheon in the main club house located at the southern end of the course. The race will go on the air at 4 p. m., eastern standard time. Three-quarters of an hour before post time John Wilburn will tell about the history of the race, and at post time Clem McCarthy, of New York* will take over the "mike." In an effort to handle the expected crowd pari-mutuel manager Mortimer Mahoney will install extra wagering booths in his three rings, as well as in the paddock. These machines will be opened at 11 a. m. A staff of 400 will handle the "iron men." Scratch time on Preakness Day will be 8 a. m., with the initial field slated to go postward at 2 p. m. ♦
