p — .__ DECLARED OUT OF PREAKNESS BALTIMORE, Md., May 10.— Slave Ship. Walter M. Jef fords candidate for Saturdays Preakness, was declared out of the 0,000 race today as the result of a spread hoof. The Black Toney-Light Ship colt pulled up lame yesterday after winning the second of his two starts this year, beating four other Preakness eligibles. An examination of the injury by Preston M. Burch, his trainer, led to the decision to withdraw him. Burch said the injury was not serious, but it was possible that the colt would be withdrawn from racing until fall. *
