I CLEVELAND, Ohio, May 10.— Racing secretary Julius Reeder, has arrived at Bain-bridge Park and has been joined by his chief assistant, Richard A. Leigh. From now on they will as rapidly as possible whip matters into shape for the spring meeting, | which opens Saturday, May 21, and continues to and including June 25. W. H. Faber, who has charge of the stable assignments, reports that he has approved applications for 700 horses at Bain-bridge, which is the capacity of the plant, and that some 300 of the overflow have been assigned stables at neighboring tracks. Nothing of importance remains to be done i to put the Bainbridge plant in perfect order I for the coming meeting. The chief work done since racing ended last year, has been the beautifying of the infield. The work was done by one of Ohios most noted landscape gardeners. In addition a five-acre lake has been constructed in the infield near the eighth pole. The cost of the work was approximately 0,000. Secretary Reeder put in several days in Kentucky last week interviewing owners of j prospective candidates for the Ohio State I Derby, and reports that he met with much | encouragement. Entries to this, Ohios most | important racing event, do not close until I May 28, and the race is to be run June 4. A
