SHYLOCK racing in a forward position from the start and jumping well, responded gamely in the final drive, outlasting CAHIRCIVEEN when challenged at the final jump, but was under urging near the end CAHIRCIVEEN took the early lead, struck the brush at the ninth obstacle, but recovered quickly and continued resolutely for the final drive. ST. FRANCIS, saved for the first mile, improved his position on the inside, landed poorly at the twelfth fence, but finished gamely. BLUE BANNER circled the others and closed well, but was bothered on the last turn. KHYBER PASS showed a good performance. SHIPMASTER raced wide most of the way. ALPHEUS almost lost his rider at the tenth fence. JOE ENGEL jumped poorly at the second fence. Scratched— 70351 Fair Bob, 150; 65593 Queens Pal, 147. APPRENHENSIVE, hard urged throughout, came gamely to outlast LAZY DAISY. The latter, rushed into the lead, saved ground early, then tired in the final eighth. SPOT POT showed a good performance. LITTLE GOBLIN showed early speed. SEEMEGO raced green and was not persevered with. The latter improved his position on the outside on the back stretch, reached the winner on the far turn, but could not keep pace. TARNISH, well placed, finished gamely. ELIZABETH BOLLA dropped back steadily after being overtaken. LILLYBET was pinched back after the start. The others were never dangerous. The latter raced on the outside from the start and was carried wide into the stretch, but closed gamely. GOLDEN FATE raced CUTIE FACE and LOUGH PORT into defeat and held on well. The latter, hard urged throughout, finished gamely. ARROWSWIFT closed fast. MARYAN closed a big gap in the stretch. LOUGH PORT was used up early, as was CUTIE FACE.
