Edwards estate, numbering seven, were vanned from Hawthorne - and arrived this morning. Jockey T. . Reno will do the riding. The first claim of the meeting was registered - Friday when R. B. Allen claimed 1 Lucky Carter for ,600. C. L. Mackey, well known race track icaterer, was an arrival. Dr. Freeland, star of the Benny Creech i stable, has been training well since arriving at Exposition Park and is about ready for r his best effort. He went seven furlongs in i 1:30 Monday morning, reeling off the three-quarters - in 1:15%. G. V. Vuillemot has replaced J. R. Allen, , Jr., as trainer of the latters horses and also j the horses of J. R. Allen, Sr. Vuillemot is s a brother of jockey A. Vuillemot, who rides 3 for the stable. Jack Pixley, prominent sportsman of New v Orleans, was • an arrival and will remain in l the Chicago district for several weeks. The badge registration blanks for Washington - Park have been received by Charles s F. Henry and owners are requested to call 1 for same as early as possible. J. McGraw was an arrival from Tanforan n "With the two-year-olds Joe Macaw and Parade Rest, also the sprinter Lady Menifee. The stable of J. D. Spreckels III. also arrived - from the West. In the shipment were e King Caress, Highway, Shasta Broom, t, Prince Volta and Morshion. All were frequent h winners during the winter season, i, Morshion accounting for eight races during g the Agua Caliente meeting. H. Cavanaugh checked in Monday morning with eight horses. He also brought Play y Ball along to be turned over to Mrs. R. D. * Rogers. Relatives in New Orleans are anxious to o get in touch with Fred Rockman, who is s thought to be connected with one of the e stables at Exposition Park. Books for the meetings at Calgary and Winnipeg arrived and were distributed. The catalog is one of the most complete ever published, giving much interesting data concerning racing in Western Canada. Jockey C. King, by riding three winners Monday, went to the top of the Exposition Park jockey list. He has ridden ten winners at the Aurora plant to date. Western apprentice riders are doing well at Exposition Park. Among those who have gained a following during the early days of the meeting are King, Reno, Arcaro and Salazar. E. Median, who had intended shipping his horses from Sportsmans Park today, has evidently changed his plans, as the animals have not arrived late this afternoon. Jockey Jimmy Neel, who was thrown from Black Mammy Monday, was not injured and finished out his riding engagements. About fifty members of the Horsemens Benevolent Association met at the Aurora Hotel Monday night to discuss plans for the coming year. Several resolutions were adopted and many new members signed up. The organization will be one year old June 1. . «
