FOUR WIN FOR C. V. WHITNEY New Yorkers Horses Lead in Money; Won at Thorncliffe Meeting. R. W. B. Cowies Queensway Continues Success in Stakes Begun at Woodbine, Taking Prince of Wales Plate. Cernelius V. Whitneys Canadian division, under the direction of trainer J. A. Healey made a spurt during the Thorncliffe meeting and led the winners at that track with financial returns of ,715. The three-year-old St. Germans colt Clotho reached winning form at Woodbine and went on to win the Bryan and OHara Memorial Handicap, worth ,880, at Throncliffe. The other Whitney winners were Banderlog, Magnifico and New Sun. The other Thorncliffe stake, the Prince of Wales Plate, was won by Queensway and the ,910 value gave this filly the lead among the money-winning horses and put her owner, R. W. R. Cowie, second to Whitney, The result of the Prince of Wales Plate, so far as second and third places were concerned, was the same as that of the Kings Plate at Woodbine, Queensway winning and the Seagram Stables King OConnor finishing second. Queensway has now won three of the early stakes run in Canada, the third the Breeders Stakes. Owners who sent two or more winners to the post at Thorncliffe, in addition to Whitney and Cowie, were H. G. Bedwell, A. Hull-coat, R. S. McLaughlin, R. H. New, Pasadena Stable, J. E. Smallman and Belair Stud. Bedwells Fair Jack won two races for him. Healey and H. Giddings led the trainers. F. Mann and J. OMalley were the most successful jockeys, each winning five races, but Mann had only ten mounts, therefore finished the meeting with a winning record of 50 per cent.
