ARLINGTON TRACK SPEEDY Pronounced Faster and Safer Than Ever After Several Months of Continuous Work. After several months of continuous work on the mile and a furlong track at Arlington Park, Roy Dickerson today pronounced it faster and safer than ever. Dickerson serves as track superintendent and starter at the north side course, and he has" been attending the course throughout the spring with the idea of having it satisfy all the trainers whose horses will participate in the thirty-day meeting starting Monday, June 27. Encouraged by the coming of Americas finest horses to Arlington, Dickerson went on record as predicting several new track records during the meeting over the course that is regarded as one of the fastest in the country, despite its deep, safe cushion. "With such horses as Equipoise, Jamestown, Gallant Knight and White Clover II., being pointed for Arlington races, Chicago racing enthusiasts may expect unusual speed," Dickinson said, "with the records for the mile, mile and an eighth and mile and a quarter in great danger." Lady Broadcast holds the mark for the mile, which she did in 1:35, whereas the worlds record for the distance over a circular course is 1:35, established by Jack High at Belmont Park with two such fast horses as Balko and Questionnaire forcing him. Sun Beau holds both the nine- and ten-furlong records, doing the former in 1:49 and the latter in 2:01, when he won the Arlington Gold Cup last summer. In the sprint races the onslaught will be on the five-eighths mark of :59 made by Volta Maid, the five and one-half furlongs record of 1:05 held by Bar Hunter, Epithets performance of three-quarters in 1:10, and the 1:22 for seven furlongs iuadc by Knights .Call.
