ARRIVE AT LATONIA TRACK Vanguard Prom Washington Park Reaches Kentucky Course. Track Superintendent Charles Nolte Has Plant Spic and. Span for Celebration of Golden Jubilee Anniversary. LATONIA, Ky., June 16. The vanguard of horses from Washington Park arrived at Latonia this morning. From now to the opening of the thirty-one day meeting, June. 25, arrivals daily will fill up the 1,200 available stalls and, unless something unforeseen occurs, the Latonia management will be called on to turn down many applications for stabling accommodations. The shipment, which made a fast run from Washington Park, was headed by Sewell Combs Clip-setta Stakes eligible, Nituma, and comprised five from the C. V. Whitney-Mose Goldblatt pretentious stable, and two mares, the property of W. T. Waggoner and Sons, which were immediately vanned to Georgetown to be turned out for the summer. Plumage, a double winner for Owner Combs, accompanied Nituma, and the two fillies made the trip in excellent condition. Carlos Ormsby, trainer of the horses, came on the same train and arrived at the track in time to supervise the unloading and quartering of the pair. The Whitney-Goldblatt string will be further augmented by ten more, which are due to arrive from the Homewood course tomorrow morning. Those that arrived this morning were Tantivy, Bali, Chene, Blot and Angkor. Chene and Blot are eligible for the Enquirer Handicap, while Blot was also named for the Independence Handicap. Tantivy is expected to carry the silks in the Quickstep and will be supported by Smear, a recent winner at Washington Park, and Angry. Angkor, a son of Peter Pan and Meet Me, was named for the Cincinnati Trophy. Trainer Ormesby is pleased with the condition of Nituma, but expects a hard race for the Clipsetta. "From what I could hear at- Chicago, both Hilena, which beat Nituma in the Debutante, and Esseff, which has won both of her races, will be here for the Clipsetta, and they are mighty good fillies," said Ormsby. The Latonia plant has undergone many minor changes since last season and, although no additions were made, the track and grounds proper Have been prepared for the long session. The touch of the paint brush has been applied where needed and, with the stables and stands repaired, track superintendent Charles Nolte has the half century old course ready for its Golden Jubilee meeting. In addition to the tracks celebrating its Golden Jubilee anniversary, the city of Cincinnati will hold a golden jubilee celebration during the first week of July. Polk Laffoon, president of the Latonia Jockey Club, and Maurice Galvin, vice-president, has promised the officials of the Queen City their cooperation. During the celebration the Latonia Derby will be run on July 2, and the Independence Handicap will be decided July 4. The Derby will be having its fiftieth running.
