DETROITS STAKE EVENTS ,000 Added Wolverine Handicap Heads Five Feature Attractions for Meeting Opening Sept. 2. CICERO, 111., Aug. 8. The five principal races to be run during the first nineteen days of the Detroit Racing Associations inaugural meeting, beginning September 2, will be headed by the ,000 added Wolverine Handicap, which is for three-year-olds and upward, and at one mile and one-sixteenth, according to announcement made Tuesday by Joseph A. Murphy, who will be in charge of the racing at that new major mid-western course. The Wolverine will be run September 4, Labor Day, and other of the features as announced Tuesday are as follows: Detroit Inaugural Handicap, ,500 added; for three-year-olds and upward; six furlongs, to be run September 2. Speed Handicap, ,500, for three-year-olds and upward; three-quarters, to be run September 9. Juvenile Handicap, ,500 added, for two-year-olds; six furlongs, to be run September 16. The Autumn Handicap, ,500 added, for three-year-olds and upward; one mile and one-sixteenth, and to be run September 23. Judge Murphy also stated that the values and conditions for features to be run on September 30 and October 7 would be announced later. Entries for the Inaugural and Wolverine Handicaps will close August 26, while those for the Speed Handicap are to close September 2, and September 9 will be the last day for subscriptions to the Juvenile Handicap. Nominations for the Autumn Handicap close one week later, or on September 16.
