The Saranac is at one mile, for three-year-olds, to which ,000 is guaranteed, and it was first run in 1901. One of the best of the morning trials was that of F. A. Griffiths Sarada, handicapped at 120 pounds for the renewal. The son of Sir Gallahad IH. went along for a mile and a furlong in 1:55 and, while he was being driven out, it was a decidedly impressive move. Pomponius, one of the W. R. Coe nominees and under only 112 pounds for the running, covered a mile and a furlong in 1:57. Jack Whyte had the Willis Sharpe Kilmer pair, Sun Archer and Dark Winter, under saddle and they went along together for a handy nine furlongs in 1:58. Then Samuel D. Riddles Dwyer winner. War Glory, handicapped at 125 pounds and top weight of those expected to start, showed a readiness by going a mile and a furlong in 1:57. Others that went along for the mile distance were Good Advice, De Valera and Kerry Patch. Good Advice, an eligible from the Catawba Stablfi and asked to take up 122 pounds showed a mile in 1:43. De Valera, the H. C. Phipps eligible and in well under 111 pounds, ran a mile in 1:42, driven out, and Kerry Patch, which races for Lee Rosenberg, had a handy mile in 1:44. All of these appeared to. be thoroughly ready and, from the number of candidates that are training, it is expected the field will be a large one. A
