CHURCH BUYS CALIFORNIA FARM SAN FRANCISCO, Calif., Aug, 8 Norman W. Church, owner of Gallant Sir and Plucky Play, who has for several years maintained a thoroughbred breeding farm in Kentucky, in collaboration with Arthur B. Hancock, plans to establish headquarters in California for both his breeding stock and horses in training. He leased some years ago the Mira Monte Stock Farm near San Jose from the estate of the late Dr. Henry Macomber. The establishment will be joined before long on a 100-acre tract that he purchased yesterday seven miles south of San Jose and on which he plans to expend 50,000 building a mile and a quarter track, stables, quarters for trainers, jockeys, grooms and exercise boys. In company with Mr. Hancock, Church bought Toro for 0,000 three years ago to head his stud.
