DORSAYS FURNISHES SURPRISE Gelding Wins Closing Feature of Mount Royal Meeting — Big Crowd Sees Races. MONTREAL, Que., July 14.— Dorsays, the four-year-old gelding which carries the colors of the Montreal trainer L. Suprenant, furnished an upset in the Montreal Claiming Purse, the outstanding event of a mediocre I closing-day card here this afternoon, when j he took five of the better horses quartered here into camp over six furlongs. Well j ridden by W. Halliburton at the start, the I gelding sprinted into a length lead after a j furlong and, under his own pace, increased j his lead to one and a half lengths at the j half mile. Losing ground entering the | stretch, Dorsays still retained a lead of half a length when Zode, under a rousing ride I by H. Peake, came on the outside to chal-I lenge the winner. j Dorsays had enough in reserve to withstand the challenge and he passed the judges j stand a length and a half in front of the sec-j ond horse, while Single Star outlasted Pro-I tractor for the third portion of the purse. The winner ran the distance in 1:13, under 122 pounds, and returned a dividend of 7.95 for the usual outlay. A fair Saturday crowd of 8,500 took advan-j tage of the fine weather to witness the final days racing at Mount Royal. R. E. Richards Thunderdrop registered his third victory in succession when he defeated G. W. OConnors Eleusagon by a head in the opening race, which brought together a limit field of 00 platers at three-quarters of a mile. Little Wing, from the Mrs. B. F. Christmas stable, raced to third place before Dress Circle. Eleusagon and Noel B. set the pace until the turn into the stretch, where Walls, who had Thunderdrop under restraint in third place, moved to the leader, while Noel B. quit, drew into a slight lead in the stretch and outlasted Eleusagon at the finish. Eleusagon set the pace, hung on gamely in the last furlong, and was coming again ■and% the finish. Little Wing came from far back to take third position. • ,
