Y., July 19.— The thoroughbreds comprising the breeding stock, foals, yearlings and horses in training. i known as the property of Cornelius Vander-bilt Whitney, today were valued at 69,000 in a transfer tax appraisal of the Harry Payne Whitney estate. These included the sires Mad Hatter, Chicle, Whichone and St. j Germans, the mare Top Flight, which has j won 75,900, and the horse Equipoise, still j in training, which has earned 33,960. • The estate, valued at 2,740,838 at the j • time of Harry Payne Whitneys death in 1910, has since dwindled approximately 30 , per cent, due to a reduction in the value j of securities worth 4,000,000 four years ; back. The estate was listed in the appraisal as 2,808,829, net. The state will exact ,513,013 of this sum I in taxation, with deductions of about 0,-000.000, claimed in administrative, funeral ! expenses and debts. The last, it was dis- j closed, included ,399,350, which was bor- j rowed from the Guaranty Trust Company i during the stock market debacle of October 1 and November, 1929. Investments included 124 stock items ap- j praised at 7,362,302, in addition to 197 municipal bonds and seven of miscellaneous ! - nature appraised at 6,354,719. The real | estate includes a mansion at 871 Fifth Avenue, New York City, and property at Old Westbury, Long Island, appraised at ,836,-804. Personal effects of 49,793, including a Van Dyke of Sir William Villers, worth 0,000, were listed in the Fifth Avenue residence. Cash in the estate amounted to 47,616. Mrs. Gertrude Vanderbilt Whitney, widow of Harry Payne Whitney, and their children, Cornelius Vanderbilt Whitney, Flora Whitney Miller and Barbara Whitney Henry, residents of Old Westbury, are the principal beneficiaries.
