ERVAST moved up in the first quarter, worked his way up gradually thereafter and, going to the outside in the stretch, closed resolutely and was up to win in the last stride. FLYING DON shook off IL TROVATORE, drew into a good lead, but, hard ridden, failed to withstand the winner. MANAGER BILL, outrun early, closed with a rush in the final three-sixteenths. SILVERDALE moved up steadily and held on well. IL TROVATORE tired badly after showing early speed. SANDY JOE tired. Scratched— 995052Lerack, 114; 98269 Tamerlane, 109. CHICKAHOMINY, hustled to the front at once, drew clear and, rated along under restraint, was not menaced. MARGE was shuffled back to last place at the start, but, taken to the outside, moved up fast on the far turn and closed gamely. CALGARY KAY moved up steadily and finished with a rush. FLAG TIME forced the pace of the winner most of the way, but tired in the last eighth. PRISONER tired in the final quarter after showing the most early speed. PADDOCK was not a factor. SILK FLAG, lame going to the post, showed speed for three-eighths, but tired and pulled up lame. The bridle came off HAPPY SURPRISE after showing early speed. HIGH GLEE, away well and lightly restrained when racing with ZEK1EL, disposed of the latter and drew clear in the stretch, but could not withstand the winner. SLAPDASH finished resolutely. FLYING SAILOR closed a gap in the final three-sixteenths. ZEKIEL much used racing with HIGH GLEE, tired in the final quarter. UNIVERSE was outrun.
