TAKE OVER THISTLE DOWN Messrs. Cattarinich and Eddy to Operate Cleveland Track, Opening Aug. 4, Concluding Sept. 3. CLEVELAND. Ohio, July 25.— Thistle Down, Clevelands three-quarter million dollar plant, will open its twenty-six day summer season Saturday, August 4, and continue to September 3, according to an announcement made jointly by Joseph Cattarinich and Robert S. Eddy, Jr., who will operate the plant, under their personal management. The dates have been formally approved by the Ohio State Commission, who commended Messrs. Eddy and Cattarinich for their interest in continuing the sport in the Cleveland sector. "In taking over the Thistle Down plant," said Mr. Cattarinich, "we do it at the request of prominent citizens as well as horsemen and others interested. We have been conducting racing in this section for many years and have confidence in Cleveland as a racing center. The state will derive considerable revenue as the result of the Thistle Down meeting, which, of course, will be under the supervision of the Ohio State Racing Commission. "Cleveland, it seems, has recovered from the depression more rapidly than other cities in the middle west, and all indications point to a most successful meeting at the Warrensville plant. The patronage of the present Bainbridge Park meeting has exceeded the expectations of the management and would lead one to expect that Thistle Down will attract even larger crowds than for several years past. "The racing officials at Thistle Down will be the same as in charge of the present Bainbridge Park meeting."
