Gormley was permitted to add blinkers to the equipment of Pompous Genie in the fifth race Wednesday, while Blue Armor and Lulu Lite will wear them in their engagements Thursday. Dr. T. A. Fowler, owner of the two-year-old Willa T., is an arrival and will remain for an indefinite stay. I Trainer R. A. "Bob" Smith, who sent a division of the Brookmeade Stable to Saratoga I last Sunday, received word that the horses arrived O. K. after an uneventful trip. R. T. "Dick" Watts will van his twelve horses to Hawthorne Thursday. The string is headed by Pot au Brooms, recently acquired by Watts from William Sachsen-maier via the claiming route. Phil Reuter will send three of the eighteen horses he has here to Saratoga Sunday. The trio will comprise Virginella, Cooley and one other. The remainder of the string will be sent to Hawthorne for that meeting. It is the intention of Reuter to assemble his entire stable at Havre de Grace for a campaign on the Maryland tracks this fall. Trainer Ray Kindred received three two-year-olds, the property of Brownell Combs, from Lexington, Ky. The shipment, consisting of Luminosa, Monroe and one unnamed colt, will be raced here and then sent to Hawthorne. Combs is due here from Lexington either Thursday or Friday. Another person prominent in racing who arrived Wednesday was Frank J. Bruen, who came from his home in Miami Beach, Fla., and who will remain until the close. Bruen was general manager of Arlington Park for the first meetings held when H. D. Brown and associates owned the track. Since leaving Arlington, Bruen has held managerial positions with Hialeah Park and Tropical Park.
