1 ARLINGTON DOWNS NOTES : $, In addition to special trains from Houston, San Antonio and West Texas, many additional special cars will be attached to regular trains from all points in Texas converging on Arlington Downs for the 5,000 Texas Derby Saturday, April 20. According to reports from the various ticket agencies in Dallas and Fort Worth, considerable interest in the Lone Star classic is being manifest, not only throughout the southwest, but from points as far as Boston, New York and Providence, R. I. Many patrons from Oklahoma, New Mexico, Colorado, Louisiana, Tennessee, Kentucky and Arkansas will swell the regular visitors, and resident manager Trav Daniel predicts that the 1935 renewal of the Texas Derby will attract more than 40,000 visitors. Miss Marousia Mueller will present the Derby trophy, with Mrs. W. T. Waggoner II., and Mrs. A. D. Wharton, Jr., assisting with the floral award to the victor. H. C. Riddle will leave Sunday for Belmont Park, N. Y., with the A. B. Gordon horses. Riddle came here with Sir Thomas, winter book favorite for the 1934 Kentucky Derby, but the horse was claimed the past week. Riddle has several youngsters under his care, but does not have an eligible for the Kentucky Derby this year. The first book of conditions for the Churchill Downs meeting are being distributed among the horsemen. Many of the leading stables here will be shipped to Louisville at " the close of this meeting. Charles Irby, trainer of the Tranquility Farm Stable, reported the two-year-old Sun X. bucked his shins after working Monday morning. The juvenile was withdrawn from the first race Tuesday. Trainer Fred St. John is asked to get in touch with J. D. Mooney at Arlington Downs. The matter is of great importance.
