Racing was resumed at Bay Meadows today with an eight-race all-claiming bill. The track was heavy but was drying out under a warm sun and rather brisk wind and figured to be in fairly good condition for Wednesdays sport. Two-year-olds will be in the limelight Wednesday when the ,500 added juvenile handicap will be featured. The dash, which is at four and one-half furlongs, will bring out several star youngsters which have not yet appeared at Bay Meadovs, as well as others that have turned in creditable efforts during the meeting. Maid of Perth, one of the outstanding juveniles of the Santa Anita meeting, will make her debut at the San Mateo track in the Juvenile. The filly, which was bred at J. W. Marchbanks Walnut Creek Ranch, will carry top weight of 120 pounds and will be coupled with Orra, recent winner of four races in succession. Magnanimous, highly regarded by trainer Woody Fitzgerald of the Northway Stable, will race coupled with Valiant Fox as representatives of that establishment, while Calaveras and Fresno, the latter a recent winner, will represent the Hartwell and Oakhurst Stables. Others to go are Ina Dear, winner of three races at the present meeting, Bing Crosbys Zombi, C. Putnams Marcleave and Maj. Sven Christensons . Charming Miss. Two other features, the Hayward Handicap at six furlongs, and the Golden Gate Handicap, at one and one-sixteenth miles, will support the Juvenile Handicap on an excellent card. Rain Star, a four-year-old that was making her first start in over sixteen months, won the opening race at Bay Meadows Tuesday and paid 8.60. The winner, a daughter of Runstar Sadie Thompson, which was bred by Mrs. Alma Spreckels Rosekrans, raced in the silks of J. E. Olson and was in front at every post, scoring by over one length from Plum Elected, while Mooney-brook was third. It was the first time Rain Star, which had started five times as a two-year-old, had been closer- than sixteen lengths to winning a race. The distance was five and one-half furlongs, and Rairi Star was ridden by E. Wielander. The handle was ,323.
