DEATH TAKES A. B. GALLAHER Well Known Kentucky Owner and ; Breeder Victim of Stroke at Age of Sixty-Two. LEXINGTON, Ky., April 9. Allan B. Gal-laher, stricken again last night with a paralytic attrack after he had apparently almost recovered from a previous stroke,-died early this morning at his home on the Russell Cave Pike. He was 62 years old and for nearly thirty years had been well known among Kentucky breeders and owners of thoroughbreds. About seven months ago Mr. Gallaher suffered an attack which kept him confined to his home many weeks. Lately he had been able to get about, and yesterday afternoon he went to the Lexington track for a final inspection of eight horses which Carlos Ormsby has been training for him. The horses were shipped to Louisville early this morning. Mr. Gallaher, born in Chattanooga, moved to Knoxville as a child, remained there until he was 21 years old, then worked with the Southern Railway at Washington, D. C, a short while. About thirty years ago he moved to Lexington and entered racing with his brother, the late John C. Gallaher, as a partner. In association with his brother and later with Sewell Combs, he had considerable success as an owner and breeder. Chil-howee, Cherokee, Mary Jane, Sewell Combs, Worth, Duval, Pongee, Oswego, Desert Light and Regalo were among the horses in whqse breeding Mr. Gallaher was associated. At the Galalher farm there are now ten brood mares, the stallion Cherokee, five yearlings, six foals of 1935 and a two-year-old filly by Cherokee Silver Lace. In the training stable are Backlog, Pancoast, Chief Cherokee and five two-year-olds. The juveniles are. Crinoline, chestnut filly, by Cherokee Pongee; Glynna, chestnut filly, by Epi-nard Glyna; Long Rifle, chestnut gelding, by Cherokee Lady Sportsman; an unnamed bay filly, by Cherokee Catherine C, and an unnamed bay filly, by Galetian Sweet Lady. Funeral services will be held at the residence Thursday afternoon at 3 oclock,, with Dr. Robert W. Miles, pastor of the First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Pallbearers will be Sewell Combs, James Pryor, Sayre Courtney, G. Nat Pettit, James Reed, Dr. George H. Wilson, Frank Justice and Sidney Johnson.
