WHITNEY HORSES GO EAST LEXINGTON, Ky., April 9. The C. V. Whitney horses, wintered at Lexington this year for the first time, left early this morning for New York and Maryland to begin their seasons racing. Fourteen head went to Belmont Park, where Jack Healey is awaiting their arrival.- Fourteen others, including the Kentucky Derby candidates Mister Gander and Today, have the Havre de Grace race track as their destination. Mr. and Mrs. Whitney, who have been at the farm for a brief inspection of the stock, are leaving this afternoon for New York. Head trainer Thomas J. Healey also leaves this afternoon. Because of an abnormally-protracted series of rains most of the horses trained in the vicinity of Lexington are slightly backward in their training. Trainer Healey is still doubtful as to what he may expect from his Derby horses, though they are as well advanced as most 6f the Kentucky-trained racers.
