1 BOWIE TURF NOTES 5 s Trainer William Hurley reached Havre de Grace Monday with Edward Riley Bradleys stable, including Black Helen, winner of the Florida Derby. Henry Horkheimer of Baltimore, has five horses at Havre de Grace in charge of Danny Clark. Carl Utz got into the Harford County track with the Foxcatcher Farms string, including the good three-year-old Rosemont. Jimmy McGee is en route from Churchill Downs to Havre de Grace with a two-year-old half sister to Plight, the property of C. H. Trotter. Agrarian heads the string of eight that George Strate is prepping at Havre de Grace. The main division of Willis Sharpe Kilmers stable is due Tuesday at the Harford County track. George Arvin, trainer for H. Teller Archibald has taken second call on jockey Johnny Gilberts services for the ,500 1 Aberdeen on April 24. ! Horsemen are advised not to harbor jockey Carl Hanford, who has left the employ of the Jersey Stable without consent of his employers. Charles J. McLennan, who will serve as racing secretary during the meeting of the Harford Agricultural Association at Havre de Grace, was an arrival from Texas and -immediately began making ready for the forthcoming meeting. McLennan expects to release the list of nominations for the major stakes to be decided at that course within a few days. Frank Bray, in charge of the Brandon farm racers that were campaigned in Florida reached Havre de Grace and were unloaded in good condition. Jimmy Wallace is making the riding engagements of jockey J. OMalley. Some of the larger stables quartered at Havre de Grace awaiting the opening at that meeting include the racing establishments of Walter M. Jeffords, Glen Riddle Farm, H. C. Vaughn, Starmount Stable, J. V. Stewart, R. E. Leslie, C. H. Trotter, Brandon Stable, Bomar Stable, Foxcatcher Farms, H Horkheimer, Selby Burch and others. Wm. R. Wollatt, general manager of the Thorncliffe Breeders and Racing Association at Toronto, Canada, was an arrival and reported that the racing in general should prove successful in the Dominion this season. Plans are being formulated for the resumption of racing at Devonshire Park this season under Mr. Wollatts supervision. The first five days of the present meeting at Bowie showed an average mutuel turnover of 58,000, compared with 17,000 daily average for the same length of time last season.
