1 HAVRE DE GRACE NOTES I i- Alfred Gwynne Vanderbilt has sent Dree! and Dogmata to Jamaica, N. Y., to participate in Saturdays opening card. Leo Fallon, a Baltimore lad, left Friday night to ride Dreel Saturday at Jamaica. Jockey Francis Horn packed his tack and left for New York. Bobby Merritt left Friday night for New York; but will return Monday to accept mounts. Merritt rides Only One Saturday at Jamaica. The apprentice rider, C. Phillips, was thrown while working a horse Friday morning. After being out ten minutes, he recovered and later galloped a stable pony to prove he was O. K. The apprentice allowance was waived on Deadeye Dick in the .sixth Friday and he carried 105 pounds. There have been seven claims at the meeting with 1,550 figuring in the transactions. Trainer T. J. Healey decided not to start Today in the Chesapeake Stakes, figuring the colt had too hard a race Thursday. The announcement that a nationally known insurance firm contemplated issuing contracts to race riders was the chief topic of discussion around here Friday morning. J. B. Belk, well-known Virginia turfman, thinks the policy should also cover exercise boys. Many arguments, some favoring the idea and others opposing it, were heard wherever horsemen gathered. "Specs" Crawford, former steeplechase rider, arrived at Havre de Grace with five performers of the Brookmeade Stable. Young Native and Vain Bachelor headed the older horses that were accompanied by three two-year-olds, including Delphinium and Faralda, eligibles for the Aberdeen Stakes. Plat Eye, which will carry the silks of the Greentree Stable, reached Havre de Grace in good condition. Plat Eye was named overnight for the Chesapeake Stakes and will be ridden by Silvio Coucci.
