DEATH TAKES DR. J. T. CHAWK LOUISVILLE, Ky., April 19 Dr. John T. Chawk, 57, for sixteen years veterinarian-paddock judge in charge at all of the tracks of the American Turf Association, and its predecessor companies, died of heart disease here at 9 oclock last night. He had served in the mentioned capacity at Churchill Downs, Latonia, Lexington, Dade Park, Coney Island, Lincoln Fields and Washington Park, and was regarded as without peer in his particular field. Dr. Chawk formerly owned several horses Avhich he raced "on western and Kentucky tracks. He had been in ill health for more than a year and his life had been despaired of for several weeks. He was a native of Louisville. Funeral services have been tentatively set for 2:00 oclock Sunday afternoon in the late residence, 1039 South Sixth Street, and at 2:30 oclock in St. Louis Bertrand Catholic Church. Burial will be in St. Louis Cemetery. Surviving are his widow, Mrs. Nellie C. Chawk, and a brother, William J. Chawk.
