MAROONED ENTRY RECEIVED Crack Sprinter Named for Opening1 Feature at Dallas Race May Be Split if Field Is Too Large. DALLAS, Texas, April 19. General manager Julius G. Reeder announced Friday morning he had received the nomination of i Marooned, Leo J. Marks crack sprinter, for the State Fair of Texas Handicap, featured number on the opening day card of the twenty-one day meeting starting next Thursday. The five-year-old son of Whiskalong Hazel Spears is considered the champion sprinter of Texas racing this season, and should trainer Hart accept the weight assigned the consistent sprinter he no doubt will go to the post favorite for the ,500 added purse. In addition to Marooned, Hart also nominated Marmara and Marson, three-year-olds in the Marks stable that have shown consistency during the Arlington Downs meeting. With the nominations for the State Fair of Texas closing Saturday, assistant racing secretary. Emmet Hileman announced there were fifteen entries already received, with a possibility of at least eight more coming in Saturday or Monday morning. With the rule at Fair Park, which allows only ten horses to start over the three-quarters mile track, announcement was made Friday that the State Fair of Texas Handicap may be run in two divisions. Should horsemen accept the weights assigned their charges and as many as sixteen are entered for the race, general manager Reeder is giving thought to splitting the race. - This arrangement would be a master stroke for the opening day program and, with the classiest horses in the history of Fair Park entered, the association could expect the greatest throng of race patrons to enter the gate of this plant. The nominations for the race" already received are Irenes Bob, Chinese Empress, Hasty Glance, Cant Remember, Croon, Be-dight, Ima Count, Playmaster, Hilise, Jesting, Lord Tournament, Wise Anne, Marooned, Marmara and Marson. Weights for the race will not be announced until Tuesday.
