BELMONT PARK NOTES $ ; Top claiming price in the final race on Tuesday is ,000, one of the highest claim-ers to be decided this year. Jockey J. Bejshak cancelled his engagements and left for Baltimore to attend the funeral of Mrs. Stotler. Firethorn, owned by Walter M. Jeffords, was brought over to the paddock before the first race for education. He was accompanied by Marital Law. Jockey N. Wall has decided to leave for Rockingham Park and ride free lance at that meeting. Terry Farley, custodian of the jockeys room, reported that 107 jockeys were registered here. The high mark at Belmont Park is 162, which was established a few years ago. Jockey S. Coucci resumed galloping horses Monday and will accept his first mount on Cheshire. He will be a steady rider from that mount on. During the absence of J. H. Stotler, A. Holberg saddled the Alfred Gwynne Van-derbilt starters in the different races Monday. Reports from the hospital where Algernon Daingerfield, secretary of The Jockey Club, has been confined for some time, were most encouraging, and it is expected that he may soon be able to return to his desk. J. B. Campbell, racing secretary, reports that the condition books for the second half of the meeting will be ready for distribution Thursday. Charles "Trainer" Hughes arrived from Louisville and will stay for the remainder of the season. J. H. Stotler- left for Baltimore to attend the funeral of his mother, who died Sunday. Funeral services will be held Tuesday.
