I LEXINGTON TURF NOTES Arthur W Shutts Allen Long and Olin Gentry committee on arrangements for the third annual yearling judging contest of the Thoroughbred Club of America Tuesday an ¬ nounced that Friday next has been selected as the date and that thirty yearlings are to be judged ten each on three farms Dixiana Greentree and C V Whitney At each farm the string for judging will comprise five fillies and five colts coltsMrs Mrs Payne Whitneys string of twenty six yearlings ten colts and sixteen fillies will be shipped from her Greentree Farm here next Tuesday to her Greentree train ¬ ing grounds at Red Bank N J JMelville Melville H Haskell master of Rincon Ranch Tucson Ariz accompanied by Jacob Myers also of Tucson arrived in Lexington Monday night for a visit to the thorough ¬ bred horse breeding establishments establishmentsFollowing Following a dinner meeting Monday night at the home of president Hal Price Headley on Beaumont Farm a committee of twenty four central Kentucky residents Tuesday began the sale of stock in the Keeneland Association for the purpose of building the proposed new racing plant on J O Keenes farm where there already is a splendid is 350000 Of this sum it is hoped that approximately 125000 will be subscribed lo ¬ cally The option on the property expires August 15 and the subscription form reads that if on that date 250000 is not sub ¬ scribed the project will be abandoned In ¬ terest however is keen and the expectation is that the subscription will be fully achieved achievedJ J J Greely Jr has succeeded Gordon Pearce as manager of Shandon Farm prop ¬ erty of H A and R J Nash The new man ager who assumed his duties on last Sat ¬ urday is a son of J J Greely trainer of the Shandon Farm horses Gordon Pearce has returned to his home at Covington Ky KyJ J O Keene went to Latonia Tuesday morning where he has a couple of horses ready to start startInformation Information from Ashland Ky is to the effect that United States government engi ¬ neers have been making surveys of the Raceland race track property of some 300 acres and lands adjoining seeking to locate a site for a war time munitions and chemi ¬ cal plant plantAnnouncement Announcement came today from Morton L Schwartz New York through manager Cyrus White of Elsmeade Farm that ar ¬ rangements have been made with the Fasig Tipton Company New York to disperse the breeding stud and to sell the yearlings at Saratoga Springs on Wednesday August 21 The consignment includes the stallion Clock Tower thirteen mares and ten yearlings a list of which will be published later
