I TANFORAN TURF NOTES e : The contract on apprentice R. R. King, nineteen, of Shelby, 111., was sold to Roy Selden by the riders father, Charles O. King. Selden, himself a former reinsman, is confident that King will prove successful in the saddle. Jockey Ralph Neves was suspended five days by the stewards for foul riding in the fourth race Tuesday. Astride Instigator, Neves reached over and pushed Loafer, throwing him off stride. Neves will be allowed to ride out his engagements Thursday. California will have a new sire with the arrival Tuesday of the Sweep stallion, Polvo, owned by W. J. Potter. Polvo, a fine son of Sweep First Peep, left Potters farm at Mobile, Ala., Tuesday for California. He will stand at Charles A. Hartwells Santa Rita Stock Farm. Polvos Pride is one of the best sons of Polvo now racing. Roy Selden, Tuesday, purchased Dauntless Miss from L. N. Argyr. The mare will be fired and turned out. She will be taken up in the fall. It has been found necessary to put jockey Don Lyons in a cast, because of several small bones loosened by his recent fall. He is not confined to the hospital, however. Polydorus, owned by Lonnie Copenhaver, has been bred to Omardale and Reproach.
