1 BOWIE TURF NOTES Jockey E. Arcaro has been engaged by Marshall Field to ride his three-year-old Tintagel in the Paumonok Handicap, the Wood Memorial and the Kentucky Derby. The former two stakes will be run during the meeting of the Metropolitan Jockey Club at Jamaica, and Arcaro is scheduled to leave here at the close of the Bowie meeting. Jockey I. Anderson stated that he would leave for Jamaica at the end of the Southern Maryland Agricultural Association meeting ending on Saturday. A. J. Abel reported that his good four-year-old Rustic Rest is suffering lymphangitis and that little hope is held out for the recovery of the colt, which was considered by his owner one of the best performers that ever carried his colors in competition. R. E. Potts, who handles the destinies of the Bomar Stable, owned by Messrs. Bohn and Markey of Detroit, stated that he would ship Grand Slam, one of the leading favorites for the Kentucky Derby to Havre de Grace on Thursday. Grand Slam will make his three-year-old debut in the Chesapeake Stakes, to be decided at the Susquehanna course on Saturday, April 18. A division of the Bomar Stable that is being campaigned at Bowie will be transferred to the Harford County course in the next few days.
