TROPICAL PARK STATISTICS Coral Gables Racing Association Distributes 46,030 in Prizes. 1935-36 Season Most Successful in History of Track C. V. Whitney Heads Winning Owners List. - Tropical Park, during its twenty-three day meeting from March 10 to April 4, which wound lip the 1935-36 winter season in Florida, gave away 46,030, a daily average of i ,349.13 for the most successful session in the history of the Coral Gables course. New attendance and mutuel records were made. C. V. Whitney, New York, owner, breeder and sportsman, carried off the lions share of the prizes, ,800, which put him at the head of the money winning owners list. J. E. Smallman, Canadian owner, was second with ,400 while the Chicago sportswoman, Mrs. Emil Denemark, won ,090. Bright Plumage, winner of the Derby Consolation Stakes, headed the money-winning horses with ,250. Little Empress, ,500, was second and Ceiling, winner of ,440, was third. Ira Hanford rode twenty-eight winners to easily take riding honors while Geo. Alexandra saddled ten winners to head his division of the sport.
