1 TANF0RAN TURF NOTES ! Julius Wild Monday purchased Temper from the Rancho San Luis Rey Stable at private terms. Johnny Loftus, the former ace rider, will train the two-year-old. Jack Pelter, well known western conditioner, checked in yesterday at Bay Meadows with Front Man and Hilo, his two standbys of many campaigns. The horses were wintered at Pleasanton. Air Squadron, well bred mare by Apprehension, owned by Major Austin C. Taylor, has been sent to the court of Plucky Play at Key Spences Deepcliff Farm. Budding Star was scratched Tuesday because of a slight infection in her right front leg. While it is not serious, trainer Roy Selden did not want to take any chances with his charge. The scratch caused the sixth race to be declared off and the substitute used. Jockey Wayne Wright, who was to have arrived by plane from Florida yesterday morning, was grounded at Jacksonville because of storms. He will arrive Friday instead and will be here in plenty of time to be astride Top Row. ;v Mr. and Mrs. Cleaveland Putnam left yesterday for a short visit to their Arcadia Farm to see Portcodines five foals. This is the farm where Polymelian is now standing and where Ladysman will stand when his racing days are over.
