MAID OF PERTH held a forward position from the start and saving ground in the stretch took a short lead but was all out at the end to get the decision in a very close finish. QUICK LOOK came strongly on the outside of the winner after entering the stretch and going gamely to the end finished on almost equal terms with MAID OF PERTH. BUNNY MARTIN, in close quarters on the inside approaching the far turn, came to the outside in the stretch to finish well and might have won with better racing luck. EVERY EFFORT displayed his usual early speed but tired near the finish. TYNEMOUTH dropped back soon after the start then made up ground. CHARMING MISS and LOOKOUT BELOW tired in the stretch. SEGURO followed the early pace closely under slight restraint, came around the outside on the stretch turn and slowly wearing down BYE LO in the stretch, won narrowly in a drive. BYE LO led the way around the first turn, was taken back to permit UNCLE LESS to make the pace and, again moving to the front of the latter when straightened out for home, went gamely to the end and barely missed. UNCLE LESS opened up a good lead on the back stretch but tired in the run home. COLDWATER closed ground. CHARTRES raced wide and showed a poor effort. CHIEF ALMGREN could not keep up. DIGNIFIED, well rated in the early part, moved up strongly when called upon around the stretch turn to take a clear lead in the last eighth and hold SQUEEZER. The latter was outrun to the stretch, then came fast and was going strongest of all at the end. TORO MAK made a strong move after leaving the back stretch, faltered under punishment around the stretch turn, but had enough to left to best PASS UP. The latter opened up a long lead on the back stretch but her rider was of little help when she began to tire in the stretch. DISTRIBUTE was used up trying to catch PASS UP and was in close quarters while tiring in the stretch. GRAYBACK could not keep up. HIS WAY was badly outrun. HAPPY HUNTER went to the front soon after the start, gradually drew away from the field on the back stretch and saving ground in the stretch, won by a wide margin. CHICA displayed good speed from the start but was tiring a trifle near the finish. BATTLING KNIGHT dropped back- around the far turn but came again in the stretch despite racing wide and would have been second in a few more strides.
