COUNTIES DIVIDE 22,536 Florida Revenue Figures Released by Secretary Walter H. Donovan. . Hialeah Parks Total Mutucl Handlo for Forty-Six Day Meeting: Amounted to 4,200,800. i f MIAMI, Fla., April 9. As a result of racing here during the 1935-1936 winter and spring seasons, the sixty-seven counties of tho state of Florida will divide 22,530 less the commissions expenses and a ten per cent reserve fund from mutuels and admission taxation, it was revealed in figures released by Walter H. Donovan, secretary of the Florida State Racing Commission. The 22,536 total represents an increase in horse racing revenue of 8,791 over last season, and with the deductions will give each of the sixty-seven counties approximately ,755. This revenue represents the three per cent tax on mutuel play and a fifteen per cent tax on admissions. The total mutuel play for the horse racing season was 3,453,884 as compared to 1,814,037 played during the winter campaign of 1934-1935. While the play increased, the attendance dropped off, as is shown by tho 81,002 admissions revenue this season as against 31,822. Hialeah Parks total play was 4,269,860 for forty-six days, and 3,815,902 for forty- five days last winter. However, the attendance total in 1936 was but 351,750 and last year 443.5S7 persons passed through the turnstiles. The average mutuel play per day at Hialeah this season was 17,108, showing an average play per person of 0.50. Last year the average play per person was 1. Running fifty days in two meetings as compared with last seasons forty-seven days, Tropical Park showed a total play of ,184,024, for an average per day of 83,681. Last winter ,998,135 was handled and the average was 70,173. The average play per person was 0.60, ten cents higher than Hialeahs. The total attendance was 229,252 as compared with 288,235.
