AURORA TURF NOTES j and The first of the valets to put in an appearance were Phil and Jerome Amend, who passed up fishing and swimming in New Orleans for the chilly breezes of Aurora. Placide Frigerio, track superintendent, was an arrival on Monday, but as yet has not started any work on the track proper, having completely resurfaced it following the close of the 1935 meeting. Others on the scene attending to the advance work include Charles Eddy, William Davenport, D. C. Burnett, Sam Magin, John Le Blanc and Cliff Abbo. Johnny Morrissey, son of Harry Morrissey, who is well known in Chicago as one of the premier starters of America, will arrive here on April 15 to begin the work of schooling. Johnny, who served under his father at all tracks at which he officiated, made a big hit as starter at Fairmount last fall and at New Orleans during the winter. He also started at Narragansett Park and Agua Caliente. Clyde Troutt, who was leading trainer and owner at the Fair Grounds meeting, will campaign a total of twelve head at Aurora, coming to the Fox Valley course following the close of the Arlington meeting. W. Day, who was one of the leading trainers at Hot Springs, will bring ten head to Aurora, including Grattan, Oaten, Ding Bin and others. Carl Meyer, who trains the horses of A. A. Young, has twelve head on the grounds. Johnny Tobin also was a recent arrival with two head. R. L. Allen has fourteen head here for the Aurora opening. If the Chicago district does not turn to daylight saving time this year, and it is said it will not, there will be no difference in the starting time of races at Aurora, since Aurora will have daylight saving time. This will make the Aurora and Chicago time the same, with 2:15 p. m. as post time. , !
