j MACK GARNER MAY RIDE j SANGREAL IN THE DERBY j LOUISVILLE, Ky., April 30.— Mack Garner, who has ridden in eleven runnings of the Kentucky Derby and climaxed his long ca reer as a jockey by piloting Cavalcade to victory in the event two years ago, probably will participate in his twelfth Derby, Saturday. In an unexpected- development today, the 36-year-old Centerville, Iowa, veteran was engaged to pilot the Milky Way Farms Stables Sangreal, if The Fighter also is a starter. If The Fighter does not go post-ward because of a muddy track, Sangreal will be ridden by Alfred Robertson, the regular Milky Way Farms Stable jockey. Before scoring with Cavalcade, Garners nearest approach to riding a Derby winner was with Under Fire in 1919, which finished third. He was on Blue Larkspur in 1929. Rhinock in 1926 and Nassau in 1923 when those colts ran fourth. His other mounts were Liberty Limited, which broke a leg in the 1931 running; Morpluck last year. Kentucky Cardinal in 1925, Gone Away in 1930, Kiev in 1927 and Coyne in 1921.
