| AURORA TURF NOTES | and Francis Polk, who topped the riders at the Fair Grounds last winter until he was seriously injured in a spill, was an arrival and will do most of the riding for Clyde Troutts stable. C. J. FitzGerald, steward representing the Illinois racing commission, came in Thursday morning, accompanied by George H. Foster, secretary of the commission. W. Causey, trainer of the Mayfield Stable, brought in eight racers from Arlington Downs and went into quarters at the Fox Valley Jockey Clubs track. Whitey Pierce, agent for the C. E. Davison stable, was an arrival Thursday and will look after the business of the Illinois turfman. Word was received from Johnny Ferris, who suffered a paralytic stroke, that his condition is somewhat improved, though he is still confined to his bed at his home, 5400 Ogden Avenue. Ferris formerly campaigned many pood thoroughbreds. Additions to the riding colony at Aurora, Thursday morning, were: J. Boucher, L. Turner, C. Lamb, G. Witmer, R. Cole, D. C. Smith and C. Hanauer. Mark T. Cox, wealthy Cheyenne, Wyo., sportsman, registered thirteen thoroughbreds which will carry his colors during the Illinois season. The horses are: San Luis Rey. Topsy Omar, War Widow, Pact. Obstreperous. Cocktail Time, Silver Crown, Topsy Behave, Move Along, Move Over, Move Thru. Move Up and Move Away. Ralph Lentini, who was formerly connected with the stable of B. Hernandez, will supervise the conditioning of the three thoroughbreds owned by B. Manziel, Texas patron.
