May 16 Also Banner Day When Metropolitan Stakes Will Be Run— Withers Stakes Scheduled for May 23. NEW YORK, N. Y., April 30— With the distribution of stake books today, dates for the feature races at the Westchester Racing Associations twenty-four day spring meet- ing at Belmont Park, May 11 to June 6, finally became known. Eighteen fixtures will be renewed, with an aggregate value of 8,000. Topping the list of stakes is the historic Belmont, 5,000 added. This fixture for three-year-olds will be run over the mile and a half course on June 6, final day of the meeting. Mrs. August Belmont will present the August Belmont Memorial Cup, which is to be held by the owner of the winner until the next running of the event, and a piec* of plate will be presented by the association, to become the permanent property of the owner of the winner. Fifty-two colts and fillies remain eligible for the Belmont, which is a duplicate of the English Derby in condi- tions. Other banner days of the Belmont Park meeting are May 16, when the Metropolitan Handicap will be run; May 23. when the Withers will be renewed; May 30, the date of the Suburban Handicap, and June 3, when the Coaching Club American Oaks, for three-i year-old fillies, will be decided. Four steeplechase stakes will be renewed, These are the International, May 16; Charles L. Appleton Memorial Cup, May 23; Corin-, thian. May 30, and the Meadowbrook, June 6. Following are the Belmont Park stake dates: May 11— Toboggan Handicap, ,000 added, three-year-olds and over, six furlongs Wide-I ner course. May 12— Bouquet Claiming Stakes, ,500 added, two-year-olds, four and one-half furlongs Widener course. May 14 — Hollis Claiming Stakes, ,000 added, three-year-olds and over, six furlongs Widener course. May 16 — Metropolitan Handicap, ,000 added, three-year-olds and over, one mile; Fashion Stakes, ,000 added, two-year-old fillies, four and one-half furlongs Widener course; International Steeplechase Handicap, ,500 added, four-year-olds and over; about two miles. May 19.— Swift Stakes, ,000 added, three-year-olds, seven furlongs. May 23— Withers Stakes, ,000 added, three-year-olds, one mile; Charles L. Apple-; ton Memorial Cup Steeplechase, ,500 added, four-year-olds and over, about two miles. May 26— Harlem Claiming Stakes, ,000 added, three-year-olds and over, one mile. May 27— Acorn Stakes, ,500 added, three- year-old fillies, one mile.
