SONNY JOE, away well, sprinted into a long lead in the first quarter mile, saved ground all the way but had to be roused sharply in the last sixteenth to withstand NO DICE. The latter, inclined to lug toward the inside in the early racing, rallied to punishment when straightened into the stretch and closed with a belated rush. YODEL, slow to settle into his stride, circled his field and finished stronely. TRIPLE ACTION, prominent from the start, held on with good energy in the closing test. DUNNAMANY raced in the first flight while losing ground and could not menace. ABAFT, very slow to get into his racing stride, cams around his field to finish strongly. FLYING FEATHERS took command at the ninth fence and, continuing gamely after losing the lead, came again after the last jump to outfinish SYRIAC on the flat. The latter, reserved for the first mile, went to the front at the last jump, but his rider became overconfident and allowed his mount to loaf, only for which he may have been the winner. SENADO lost ground going in the early part and finished gamely.. AXEWORK made a bad landing at the ninth fence, was rushed into contention, but had too much taken out of him and he tired in the last halt mile. CAPSTAN began tiring after a mile. PERSIAN PRINCE could not threaten. AXACAN was outrun. MEREDITH fell back badly after going a mile and one-half. JACKIE was done earlv. GREATOREX lost his rider at the final jump. BOW AND ARROW followed in close attendance of the leaders until midway of the back stretch, nori his opponents down without effort and drew out at his leisure when reaching the stretch. ROSSELLI improved his position on the outside, rallied nicely in the last five-sixteenths, but could not threaten the winner. KNIGHT WARRIOR, slow to gain his best stride, closed with good speed in the late stages. ANEROID, forwardly placed from the beginning and kept under pressure, failed to rally when the real test came. FOREST PLAY was under urging throughout and had no excuses. ALIT went well for three quarters, then quit. SCUDDER dropped back when overhauled. Overweight — Aneroid, 3j pounds. ACCOLADE made a wide turn into the stretch, but held on stoutly. BROWN TWIG saved ground in the late stages after being outrun early, but could not menace. THE HARE was outrun. GOLDEN HIND displayed nice speed to take command early, shook off strong opposition from PRINCE TURLEY while saving much ground, rallied to a hard ride and barely missed lasting long enough. PRINCE TURLEY moved abreast of the pacemaker midway of the turn, made strong efforts and foueht it out gamely. TREFORD lacked speed in the early racing and could not menace when improving his position. PATSEY BEGONE could not encase the pacemakers. PREVENTION went well for five eighths, then tired. Won driving; second and third the same. _ SINGING HEART, steadied within striking distance of the leaders in the first five eighths, wore SOBRIETY down midway of the stretch, was kept under pressure and drew out slightly at the end. SOBRIETY opened up a clear lead in the opening eiehth, saved ground all the way and continued gamely when forced to a hard drive. APERITIF, prominent all the way and hard ridden, tired during the closing eighth. IRISH TED made his effort in the last five sixteenths, but failed to threaten. HAYTIME II. showed a good effort. HIATUS broke slowly and raced in dull fashion. MAD MAHDI showed a flash of speed in the first three-eighths, then tired. FIFE was always outrun. ALMAC, never far back and saved early, responded fast after three-quarters, took command entering the stretch, gave way to the winner, but held on well. GRANIA moved up fast after five eighths, tired after offering a bold bid midway of the stretch and pulled up lame. STEALINGAWAY took command under hustling tactics, gave way after five-sixteenths, came again in the stretch and finished well. SANTERNO, shuffled back soon after the start, was forced to lose ground when improving his position and closed with a rush. LISTENING showed little.
