1 CHURCHILL DOWNS NOTES I + _ 4 Ralph Lovett, who purchased Tornillo during the closing days of the Texas season, reports the three-year-old as having fully recovered from slight injuries received in his last engagement and he expects to have the horse under colors in the near future. Trainer H. J. Thompson plans to get awaj Sunday for Belmont Park with the main division of the E. R. Bradley stable. A decision as to whether th stable will be represented in the Preakness Stakes will not be reached until the horses have made the trip to New York, Thompson said. A. M. Jacobus had Mrs. V. E. Berrys two-year-old Merry Peggy fired for suspicious ankles and will send her to C. W. Hays farm. With Ira Hanford, who rode him to victory in the Kentucky Derby on the ground for rough riding in that race, Bold Venture may have Wayne Wright on his back if he fills his Preakness Stakes engagement Wright, who piloted Brevity, runner-up to Bold Venture in the Derby, has been tentatively engaged for the Pimlico race by Max Hirsch, trainer of the M. L. Schwartz Derby winner. Before leaving here for Elmendorf Farm, whence he goes to Belmont Park with the Joseph E. Widener stable, Wright stated, that Brevity suffered two severe "roughings" soon after the Derby start. In the first, Brevity floundered badly as he went to one knee and the second turned him sidewise, according to the rider. "I had just about gathered him together when the second jam came. I was too busy trying to help my horse to see what horses caused the trouble," Wright said. E. Paul Waggoner, part-owner of Three Ds Stock Farm and stable and Arlington . Downs, William Daniel and Bud Burmeister, returned from a tour of the Blue Grass. While there they inspected several of the Three Ds mares which were shipped from the Waggoner farm to be mated to Display and other stallions. Mose Goldblatt returned from his home in Cincinnati and will remain until next week. Stalls for his stable have been reserved at Latonia and he plans a number of additions to his string for that meeting.
