HATS OFF was restrained in nearest pursuit of the pace, saved considerable ground at the stretch turn, drew clear, but barely lasted to stave off the closing bid of SIR ROLLIE. The latter, outpaced early, swung to the out-ide in the stretch and closed with a rush. SOCIETY COLUMN, well placed, held on willingly in the final drive. PLAYFUL BOSTON displayed speed from the start, though unable to keep up when challenged. SICKLE HOL"R, away slowly and outrun early, closed a big gap and was eoing willing at the end. MIXED GOODS showed a good effort. JOAN F. was never prominent, STILL DARK quit badly after displaying early speed. MIDNIGHT FLYER, never far from the leaders and under steadying reserve until leaving the back stretch, moved up fast entering the stretch, overhauled the tiring REGULA BADDUN and, hard ridden, hell command to the close. BROADSWORD was forwardly placed all the way and hell on gamely to the end. JLDGE PEAK moved up stoutly in the last quarter after saving ground at the stretch turn. BELIEVER w ,i outrun for the first three eighths, was fortunate in obtaining clear sailing on the inside when making his bid and closed a good gap. LITTLE CORPORAL was unable to reach the leaders. REGULA BADDUN had his usual early speed, but quit badly in the last three-sixteenths. ON APPROVAL unseated his rider at the post and fjled to enter into contention. CONSERVATIVE went into contention with a rush, though unable to reach the two leaders. HIGH HASTE was well placed all the way. MAYRO was unable to improve her position under pressure. JOHN WERRING, much used in racing with the pacemaker, had nothing left when the final test came. FAIRYSTREET was unable to reach the leaders. LIGHT BROOK dwelt slightly as the start came, worked his way up gradually and got up in the last stride to take third from SFAWICK. The latter met determined early opposition from HOOSIERS PRIDE, disposed of him and faltered in the last three sixteenths. HOOSIERS PRIDE quit after going three quarters. MOREANMORE broke down and was dis mounted at the head of the stretch. Overweight— Dirigible, 2 pounds.
