Dr. Henry J. McCarthy will conduct an auction sale of horses in training in the Pimlico paddock on May 12. Jockey Sammy Renick departed for New York where he will join the division of A. G. Vanderbilts stable at Jamaica. Brookmeade Stables Good Goods will be shipped from New York on Thursday to ful-| fill his engagement in next Saturdays Dixie Handicap. Jockey R. Jones has severed his connec-I tions with the stable of John Hay Whitney and will ride free lance during the remainder of the Pimlico meeting. Trainer J. Fitzsimmons will ship Wheatley Stables Snark and Ogden Phipps White Cockade from New York for their engage- ments in the Preakness, according to trainer George Tappen. Tappen has Belair Studs Granville and Wheatley Stables Teufel, both Preakness eligibles, at Pimlico. George Phillips arrived from New York to saddle W. H. Fursts Mantagna in the grade A handicap that headed Wednetdayj card. Jockey Eddie Lizenberger came along to ride the gelding. Earl Walden, chief of staff to mutuels manager Mortimer M. Mahony, has been named mutuels manager for the ten-day session at Hagerstown, Md., beginning Tuesday. May 19. The horses of the Foxcatcher Farm, in care of Dick Handlin, have been shipped to New York for a campaign on the Metropolitan circuit. It was reported here that subject to the approval of the West Virginia Racing Commission, Wm. Shelley, Jr., of Louisville, Ky., had been appointed racing secretary at Charles Town, W. Va. Wm. Doyle of Laurel, Md., will be Shelleys assistant. R. Johnson will ship his stable to Illinois at the conclusion of the Pimlico meeting. The veteran jockey, W. Obert, will accompany the shipment. William Hurley, trainer of the Maryland division of the E. R. Bradley stable, reports that the three-year-old bay filly Bold Flirt is recovering slowly from the injury that she received here a few days ago.
