KINGS RANSOM HANDICAP Ten Named to Contest in Saturdays Feature Attraction at Exposition Park, Aurora. AURORA, 111., May 8.— For the first time during the Fox Valley Jockey Clubs current nineteen-day meeting, a ,500 handicap over a distance was scheduled for Saturday afternoon. Named the Kings Ransom Handicap, at a mile and one-sixteenth, it drew a total of ten entries, of which "Butsey" Hernandez Woodlander, a winner at the meeting, was assigned top weight by handicapper R. A. Leigh. The gelding will pack 114 pounds in the contest, seven pounds more than his closest rivals. Prince Torch and Salaam, each of which are in under 107 pounds. Three candidates for the forthcoming Illinois Derby meet older opponents on this occasion and their performances will be viewed with interest with the running of the 2,000 stake only two weeks hence. Flag Cadet, from the Hernandez barn, Devereaux Bros. Just Frank, and the Blue Ridge Farms Understand, comprise the Derby eligibles which are named in the overnight entries for the race. Two stellar claiming events, one over a distance and the other a sprint, support the headline attraction and round out the most attractive card of eight races that has been arranged since the start of the current meeting.
